Some words are so basic to humanity that they appear in very close form in languages quite different from one another.

One example is the word for earth, which, in Hebrew, is אֶרֶץ (  ). Another is wine, יַיִן (  ).

Another may be child, whose Hebrew equivalent is יֶלֶד (  ).

ילדים בשדה

And the Hebrew word for childhood is יַלְדּוּת (  ).

For example:

אִם הַנְּעוּרִים תְּקוּפָה יָפָה, הַיַּלְדּוּת תְּקוּפָה שְׂמֵחָה, בְּדֶרֶךְ כְּלָל.
If youth (adolescence) is a beautiful time, childhood is a happy time, usually.

The word for childish is יָלְדּוּתִי (  ), as described here.
