When Israelis talk about how hot it is (and it’s hot), they often say:

חום אימים
חוֹם אֵימִים בַּחוּץ!
It’s really, really hot outside!
(khohm eh-ee-MEEM bah-KHOOTS)
 
חוֹם means heat. Don’t confuse it with חוּם (khoom) meaning brown.
 
אימים is related to the word אֵימָה meaning horror or terror (eh-ee-MAH).
 
So חום אימים means, literally, heat of horrors.
