As in most languages, Hebrew has various registers – different words meaning something similar, but functioning in different contexts.
For example, the expression not yet has a common expression – עוֹד לֹא

And here’s an example with the higher-register term:
טֶרֶם הִגַּעְתִּי לְהֶשֵּׂגִים גְּדוֹלִים.
I haven’t yet attained great things.
The word טרם also means before. It is the name of Israel’s famous emergency medical center, called so because it does its best to rescue people before it’s too late.
