Today’s Video Below ⬇️
יוֹשְׁרָה
Let me be honest with you. The Hebrew word כן – yes – also means honest, as in:
אם אהיה איתכם כן…
If I’ll be honest with you guys…
(Most people say כנֶה instead of כן – I explain why in today’s video.)
Another word for honest is ישר – literally, straight.
Likewise, honesty is either כנות or יושר. And integrity – which is a more comprehensive form of honesty – is יושרה in Hebrew.
For example:
אחת התכונות הבולטות שלה היא יושרה.
One of her most prominent qualities is integrity.

Intermediate learners
Watch without captions, pausing to write down what you hear (even if it sounds like gibberish). Then watch with Hebrew captions to correct yourself. Then with English to confirm you understood everything.
Advanced learners
Watch without captions, then with Hebrew captions, then with English as necessary.

Transcript of English subtitles
Hi friends
how do you say honest in Hebrew
when talking about a man?
technically, we should say כן
but most people say כנה
why?
because there is already a word כן
and it means “yes”
one of the most common words in the Hebrew language
therefore saying כן that also means honest
is a bit confusing
so Hebrew speakers prefer
to change the word a bit
so that it sounds like גאה – proud
and distinguish it from כן – yes
okay, that’s all friends, see you later
