מוצר comes from the root י.צ.ר (y.ts.r), meaning creating or forming – a product is something that has been created or formed into its current market state.
 
Some related verbs are the active-simple לִיצוֹר listen and repeatto create – and the active-intensive לְיַצֵּר listen and repeatto manufacture.
