לְהִתְחַבֵּק

 

 
The Hebrew root ח.ב.ק (kh.b.k) means embracing.
 
There’s to hug someone else (active-intensive verb) – לְחַבֵּק  listen and repeat – as in:
 
הָאֵם חִבְּקָה אֶת הַיֶּלֶד כְּשֶׁהוּא נִבְהַל מֵהַכֶּלֶב.
The mother hugged the child when he was frightened from the dog.
 
And there’s to hug when two participants are implied (reflexive-intensive) – לְהִתְחַבֵּק  listen and repeat – as in:
 
הִתְחַבַּקְנוּ לְמֶשֶךְ כַּמָּה דָּקוֹת.
We hugged for several minutes.
 
And a hug – that’s a חִבּוּק  listen and repeat, as in:
 
תֵּן חִבּוּק לְסַבְתָּא!
Give Grandma a hug! (when speaking to a male)
