What to say back (in Hebrew) to “I was just thinking of you…”

חַיִים אֲרוּכִּים

This one’s for my friend Zevik in Encino, California. I would give him a call and he’d say, יֵש לְךָ חַיִים אֲרוּכִּיםyou (will) have a long life. This is the charm Israelis wish one another if they thus telepathically find one another and make contact. In English, we use the less spectacular but no less flattering, I was just thinking of you.

On a different note… I wish I could say the same for Leiby, whose search parties were called off. My heart goes out to his family.
