how to say “last chance” in Hebrew (including SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT for 2017 olim)

[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-1.m4a” /]הִזְדַּמְּנוּת אַחֲרוֹנָה, צַ’אנְס אַחֲרוֹן

This is not only a lesson, but also a special announcement for people who made aliyah in 2017.

If you’ve got some Hebrew under your belt (and if you’ve taken our Level 2 course) may know the Hebrew word for lastאחרון[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-2.m4a” /] for something masculine and אחרונה[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-3.m4a” /] for something feminine. These words come from the root א.ח.ר[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-4.m4a” /] meaning late, after and other.

So that if you want to say last chance in Hebrew, you could say either הזדמנות אחרונה[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-5.m4a” /] or צ’אנס אחרון[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-6.m4a” /], since הזדמנות[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-7.m4a” /] is opportunity and צ’אנס[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-8.m4a” /] is… well, chance.

Today is the last chance for new olim to register for a free course with us.

The back story… and the הזדמנותopportunity:

Thanks to an extended government benefit, we at Ulpan La-Inyan have been offering our courses to new immigrants to Israel of 2017, with a full government reimbursement. This benefit may continue in 2018, but the government has as of yet made no promises.

We just received word from the Israel Ministry of Immigrant Absorption (משרד הקליטה[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-10.m4a” /] – Misrad Haklita) that they will soon no longer be able to process immigrants applying for this benefit. That means that today (December 7) is the last day we at Ulpan La-Inyan can receive registrations for this benefit.

If you or someone you know qualify for this benefit (criteria here) of a free six-month conversational-Hebrew course, now is the time to take advantage of it by taking our placement test as soon as possible.. This could be ההזדמנות האחרונה[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/צאנס-אחרון-11.m4a” /] – the last opporutnity.
