In English, we cut down the absoluteness of a claim by saying to a certain extent: we use the metaphor of length to describe how “far” something will go.
In Hebrew, when we want to simmer down what we’re saying, we might use במידה מסוימת[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/במידה-מסוימת-#.m4a” /] – literally, by a certain measure.
For example:
