how to say “summer” in Hebrew

Spring, in Hebrew, is אָבִיב (ah-VEEV); Passover is חַג הָאָבִיב (khahg hah-ah-VEEV).

Today was a gorgeous יוֹם אָבִיבִי (yohm ah-vee-VEE) – spring day – here in Jerusalem. It was quite warm… but not quite hot, with the sun shining, the flowers blooming, and the city getting excited for the national holidays בַּפֶּתַח (bah-PEH-tahkh) – on our doorstep.

A fresh new session of classes opened this week at Ulpan La-Inyan in Jerusalem, Raanana and Efrat… and behind the scenes we’re gearing up for summer: קַיִץ (KAH-yeets). The word קיץ is related to the word קֵץ (kets), one of the words for end; the summer is the end of the agricultural season.

This summer – בַּקַיִץ (bah-KAH-yeets) – literally, in the summer, we’re offering our friendly, state-of-the-art conversational Hebrew courses in Jerusalem, Raanana, Efrat… and at our newest (well, renewed) branch, Tel Aviv!

We’ve regular six-week classes, intensive three-week classes, as well as classes geared especially to teens… at a variety of levels.
