Here’s an example of where translation without context can create misunderstanding.
How do you say operation in Hebrew? That depends on what sort of operation you’re talking about.
A military operation is a מִבְצַע (meev-TSAH), related to the word to execute a task – לְבַצֵּע (leh-vah-TSEH-ah) – an active-intensive verb. מבצע is also the word for a sale or campaign. A synonym for מבצע, referring to a military operation, is a פְּעֻלָּה (peh-oo-LAH) – literally, an activity.
On the other hand, the type of operation one might undergo in a hospital is a נִתּוּח (nee-TOO-ahkh), the abstract noun derived from the also active-intensive verb, לְנַתֵּח (leh-nah-TEH-ahkh) – to operate… which also means to analyze (to take apart data).

So don’t go telling people you’re going to have an operation when you really mean you’re going to the mall.
