Sometimes a situation in life calls for a creative solution.
Suppose, for example, you’re building a סֻכָּה (soo-KAH) – sukkah – in your backyard, and you realize that one of the three required solid sides, yours in the form of a curtain, is ripped and can’t be used. Short of buying a new curtain for that “wall,” you’d have to come up with a creative solution – perhaps using a bed sheet, or placing the whole סוכה against a permanent wall.
A creative solution in Hebrew is a פִּתָּרוֹן יְצִירָתִי (pee-tah-ROHN yeh-tsee-rah-TEE). where פתרון comes from the simple verb, לִפְתּוֹר – to solve (leef-TOHR), and יצירתי is related to a multitude of creation-related words, such as:
לִיצוֹר (lee-TSOHR) – to create/to form
לְיַצֵּר (leh-yah-TSEHR) – to manufacture
יְצִירָה (yeh-tsee-RAH) – creation/formation
יֵצֶר (YEH-tsehr) – inclination/impulse for creation (or, perhaps recreation)
