יָם – sea; יָמִים – seas
נָהָר – river; נְהָרוֹת – rivers
אֲגַם – lake; אֲגַמִּים – lakes
For example:
קוֹרְאִים לַכִּנֶּרֶת יָם, אָבָל הִיא בְּאֶמֶת אֲגַם.
We call the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) a sea, but it really a lake.
