bullet in the barrel (“trick up his sleeve”) is a military expression and
is one of many military expressions in
Hebrew, for example

and if I want to express consent
I can say “okay”
I can say “awesome”, “excellent”
or, I can also say “bomb!”
or “shell!”
so why is Hebrew full of such military expressions?
because this is our reality

serves in the army, or at least is
supposed to serve in the army on some level
