Hey dear friends
The concept “the Promised Land” appears
not by name in the Bible, but the concept
certainly does appear in the Bible, where there’s
a description of what exactly was promised
to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and therefore
to the Children of Israel, as The Promised Land
the land that would be their inheritance for generations
And there are various descriptions, various borders
and there’s also a dispute as to where
the borders reach, but that’s
the Biblical Promised Land
But in today’s post
I wrote that the promised land is
also a symbol, and this symbol appears
in literature such as The Grapes of Wrath
by Steinbeck, where
California is called “The Promised Land”
It also appears as the title
of the film The Promised Land, starring
Matt Damon, and also in general, when speaking
of a faraway, yearned-for goal, we call this
goal, at least in English, “the promised land”
