Hey dear friends
I wrote about the word לרצות-to please in the context
of causing someone else to feel good
to get liked by someone else
But there’s another meaning to the word לרצות
which is to serve a punishment, or to serve incarceration
meaning that a person does that which
he has committed to do, specifically
in the context of incarceration or of punishment
What’s the connection between לרצות-to get liked by someone
and לרצות-to serve a punishment (sentence)?
So, in order to understand this, it’s worth looking
at the (grammatical) opposite of לרצות or מרצה-pleasing
which is a person who is מרוצה
A מרוצה person is satisfied
because the other did what the first wanted him to do
We can say that the prison or the justice system
is satisfied, pleased, by the person
who served out his punishment
And if I get liked by someone
and do what he wants
he’s satisfied
