how to say “doppelganger” (or “a double”) in Hebrew

Can’t read Hebrew yet?

כָּפִיל

At some point I decided I had better things to do, but for about half an hour last week I used an automated service to help me choose exactly whom among the celebrities I most resemble.

That’s because last week was Doppelganger week on the social networks.

A doppelganger, in the English of the Facebook era, is a person’s double. The Hebrew word for such a double is כָּפִיל listen and repeat for a male and כְּפִילָה listen and repeat for a female.

שני אנשים מאוד דומים
כָּפִיל אוֹ פוֹטוֹשׁוֹפּ?

For example:

אַתָּה יָכוֹל לִהְיוֹת הַכָּפִיל שֶׁלִּי.
You (a male) could be my double.

This Modern-Hebrew word כפיל originates in the Biblical-Hebrew root כ.פ.ל (k.p.l) meaning… double.
