how to say “in treatment” in Hebrew

בְּטִפּוּל

The American TV series In Treatment has an Israeli origin. What’s more, the name of the American show is a literal translation of the title of its Israeli prototype: בְּטִפּוּל listen and repeat.

לְטַפֵּל listen and repeat, an active-intensive verb, means to treat or take care of. Its gerund (noun) form is טִפּוּל listen and repeat treatment, so that בטיפול means in treatment.

בטיפול can also mean in progress or being taken care of, used to reassure people that their requests are indeed being fulfilled, as in the following exchange of messages:

אֵיפֹה הַהַדְפָּסוֹת שֶׁלִּי?
בְּטִפּוּל.
Where are my prints?
It’s being taken care of.
