how to say “discovery” and “revelation” in Hebrew

גִּלּוּי

Last summer I did a video on the Hebrew expression for Columbus discovered America.

The word for to discover is the same as that for to reveal: לְגַלּוֹת listen and repeat, an active-intensive verb of the root ג.ל.ה (g.l.h).

For example:

הִיא גִּלְּתָה לִי אֶת הַסּוֹד.
She revealed the secret to me.

Likewise, discovery and revelation are the same word: גִּלּוּי listen and repeat.

For example,

גִּלּוּי אָמֶרִיקָה listen and repeat is the discovery of America

and

גִּלּוּי נָאוֹת listen and repeat is proper disclosure, or proper revelation of information.
