When Israelis speak of גיל הזהב[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/גיל-הזהב-1.m4a” /], they’re not referring to the heyday of an empire – that’s תור הזהב[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/גיל-הזהב-2.m4a” /]. Rather, they’re talking about the age of retirement, called in English the golden years. They might also speak of הגיל השלישי[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/גיל-הזהב-3.m4a” /] – the third age (the first two are childhood and the working age).

For example:
