and the word מדיח comes from – it is actually a conjugation
of the word להדיח
that is, to wash
and in this week’s Torah portion
there is also להדיח – “entice you off of the way”
and we would think it is the
exact same word right?
But no
because להדיח in the Torah portion
has the letter Nun in the root
it’s להדּיח
There is a strong emphasis in the letter Dalet
indicating a fallen Nun
meaning the root is נ.ד.ח
On the other hand, the root of the להדיח
like “to wash dishes ”
is ד.ו.ח
not the same meaning
להדיח in this week’s Torah portion
is to take a person off – off a good track, for example
and להדיח כלים – מדיח כלים is to wash
