Hey dear friends

And חיטוי comes from the word חטא-sin
the letters ח.ט.א, and this word functions
as a root, but when we look at
חיטוי, we don’t see the Alef
at the end of the word, it isn’t חיטוא
but rather חיטוי. I think this is
a Rabbinic, Mishnaic form
not a Biblical one
that the Alef at the end of the root becomes
a Yod in certain forms, as in חיטוי
And I’ll bring you another example
so you don’t think that חיטוי is such
a strange word, the word מילוי-filling
whose root is מלא-full – מ.ל.א
but when we talking about “filling”
we say מילוי (not מילוא)
“filling the new house with boxes
that were moved from the old house”
