Hello dear friends,
we have seen that there is probably a connection
between the words
לספור-to count and לספר like “to tell a story”
In English we have “to count”
as well as “to REcount”
that most likely if there is a connection in English
there is also a connection in Hebrew
especially when I think about it
that “to tell a story” is basically
to give details of the story
and these details can be counted
I’m not sure about this connection, but
it’s reasonable to assume that it’s true
Now there’s another word with the same root
which is ספָּר-barber
and here really need to check
whether there is a connection at all
I’m not sure – I’m almost convinced
that there is no connection
because … try explaining it
and another thing, that ספָּר-barber
comes from Aramaic
whereas
לספור-to count and לספר-to tell are from
as early as Biblical Hebrew
