I don’t know if you noticed
but the phrase is
four-eyed conversation – בארבע עיניים
and not בארבעה עיניים
It’s a subtle difference and not everyone hears the difference
and most Israelis are not so
strict about this difference
but grammatically …
we speak of ארבע eyes and not ארבעה
because עיניים-eyes are in the feminine
Almost all the organs in the body that come in two
in pairs, are grammatically feminine
שתי עיניים-two eyes and not שני עיניים
שתי אוזניים-two ears and not שני אוזניים
and so on
And we therefore say בארבע עיניים
