It hasn’t been an easy couple of weeks for the various religious groups within Jewish Israel.

The posted presented to the left of this text makes light of the situation and makes a statement of its own. The largest text reads:

אָנָּא אַל תַּעֲבְרִי בִּשְׁכוּנוֹתֵינוּ אִם אַתְּ לֹא לְבוּשָׁה מְהַמֵּם.
(ah-NAH ahl tah-ahv-REE bee-shkhoo-noh-TEH-noo eem aht loh leh-voo-SHAH meh-hah-MEM)
Don’t pass through our neighborhoods if you don’t look (literally, aren’t dressed) stunning.

The text reads מהמם and not מְהַמֶּמֶת (meh-hah-MEH-met), since the word functions here as an adverb. Adverbs in Hebrew do not change gender or number.

The word מְהַמֵּם (meh-hah-MEM) means stunning both in the literal sense as well as in the fashion sense. לְהַמֵּם (leh-hah-MEM) – an active-intensive פיעל verb – means to stun.
