צופר באוטוIn any case, the Hebrew word for the sound of a siren is צְפִירָה (tseh-fee-RAH), while the siren itself (or the horn in a car) is a צוֹפָר (tsoh-FAHR). They are related to the active-simple verb לִצְפוֹר (leets-FOHR), meaning to sound a siren or to honk (in the UK, to hoot).
