is a simple action
but להקפיץ-to bounce (or to give a ride) is to make someone jump
The הפעיל verb structure is one of causation
one can “eat”, but one can also “feed”
cause someone to eat
workers can strike
and by striking
they disable the economy
You can also take a simple word
and plug it into the הפעיל structure
and we have something causative
for example, “the thing is whole
and if I want to make it whole
I complete it
הפעיל is not always causative
for example, להזמין – to order/invite- it’s hard to find
the causation in the word זמן-time here that takes place
but in general it works pretty well
