now, the word חורף in Hebrew is not exactly
as it is in English – it is not exactly winter
yes, it’s winter, but when we talk about winter in Israel
we mean this season as well
autumn
why? because in Israel, winter is not a
sharp season
as it’s felt, for example, in New York or Norway
there’s no ice on the roads
winter is just another shade of autumn
so autumn and spring
we don’t call them by their names, usually
we could, but we generally call them “intermediate seasons”
between the summer and winter
