Today’s word is שופט in the sense of
referee, and the truth is that I don’t have
too much to say about שופט-referee/judge

The פעל structure – we have “to judge”, right
What about the פיעל structure? לשפט? No
But there is “judgment”, which is of the
פיעל form, and a שיפוט is, say

or “I am judgmental towards someone”
What about the הפעיל structure? There is such a word
להשפיט – which is to cause
someone to feel judged
What about the נפעל structure? “Judged”, “to be judged”
Certainly – “I judge a person, he is judged
by me”. If there isn’t לשפט then there isn’t
“to be משופט”, so it doens’t fit in the פועל structure
And הפעיל – we have השפיט –
and thus הושפט (the הופעל structure), yes
What about התפעל? Is there להשתפט?
