how to say “wonderful” in Hebrew

נֶהֱדָר

Like English, Hebrew has lots of words to describe something as great. Some of these are מְצֻיָּן  listen and repeat excellent, מְעֻלֶּה  listen and repeat excellent or of great quality, and נֶהֱדָר  listen and repeat wonderful or glorious.

It can also mean beautiful.

For example:

אַתְּ נִרְאֵת נֶהֱדָר.
You (a female) look fantastic.

It’s the masculine נהדר and not the feminine נֶהֱדֶרֶת  listen and repeat, as the word is used here to describe how the woman looks, not the woman herself.

The root of נהדר is ה.ד.ר (h.d.r) meaning glory.
