In the Book of Esther, the Jewish-Persian queen is faced with a fateful decision: either risk her life by attempting to persuade the king to spare the Jewish people, or sit “pretty” in the palace while her people are systematically wiped out.

In Hebrew, we’d call this רֶגַע גּוֹרָלִי (REH-gah goh-rah-LEE) – a fateful moment or a crucial moment.

גּוֹרָל (goh-RAHL) means fate or destiny.
