the word שקרן – liar
comes from the word שקר – a lie, falsehood
and there’s a Midrash that talks about truth and falsehood
the letters of the word אמת and those of שקר
notice that the letters ש, ק, ר
are close to each other
ש-ק-ר-ת
are the final letters of the Hebrew alphabet
other hand, אמת (truth)
א, מ, ת
are the beginning of the alphabet – א
ת which is the end, and מ
which sits in the middle
and the Midrash says
that a lie is something common
just as the letters are close to each other
on the other hand, truth is something that can’t be found
everywhere
this one Midrash – another Midrash is
look at the letters
the letters of אמת have “legs”
there’s what to stand on
however, the letters of שקר
have no legs, nothing to stand on
