If you’re like me and you sometimes forget your username or password on one of the dozens of websites you’ve joined, raise your hand.
The Hebrew term for username is a direct translation of the English – שֵׁם מִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ   – where שם   means name and משתמש   means user or using (in the masculine).

For example, I sometimes click a link, whose text is:

שָׁכַחְתָּ שֵׁם מִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ?
Forgot username?

Although the statement uses the masculine, it speaks to a general audience.

You’re also likely to hear Israelis refer to a username as a יוּזֶר  .
