Most Israelis use סמס[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/מסרון-#.m4a” /] – SMS – for text message, as in:

But there is also a proper Hebrew word that you’ll hear on the radio, as well as from some Israelis in conversation: מסרון[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/מסרון-#.m4a” /].
For example:
