how to say “Icee” in Hebrew

[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/ברד-#.m4a” /]בָּרָד

ברד[audioclip url=”https://archive.ulpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/ברד-#.m4a” /] means literally hail, but an Israeli firm borrowed the word to name the local version of the Icee.

For example:

Kids, do you want ice cream or icees?

Note that ברד remains singular in the example above – just like we don’t talk about hails in English, ברד is just ברד no matter how many kids receive it.
