Last week we defined the Hebrew word מִפְגָּשׁ listen and repeat as referring to an informal meeting or a gathering of friends.
 
There’s another, more dramatic meaning to the word: encounter
 
 
 
For example:
 
בְּפַרַשַׁת וַיִּשְׁלַח, קוֹרְאִים עַל מִפְגָּשׁוֹ שֶׁל יַעֲקֹב עִם אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר זֶהוּתוֹ לֹא בְּרוּרָה.
In the Torah portion of Vayishlach, (Jews) read about the encounter of Jacob with a man whose identity in unclear.
