The Hebrew word for (the) middle is אֶמְצַע
.
For example:
הִיא עוֹמֶדֶת בְּאֶמְצַע הַחֶדֶר.
She is standing in the middle of the room.
The root of אמצע is מ.צ.ע, which appears as an active-intensive פִּעֵל verb – לְמַצֵּעַ in the Mishnah:
