Hey dear friends
I wrote about the word למספר-to number
which derives from the word מספר-number, of course
But what Hebrew does, it takes
a word with four letters
sometimes even five letters
and turns the word into a root
and plugs it into a pattern
in this case, into the פיעל verb structure
to number – “he numbered” in the past
like הוא פיעל (no meaning) in the past
In פיעל (and all structures) there are usually
three letters, and in למספר there are
four letters, but that’s just the way it is
especially when we take full words
that already exist
for example Facebook – we take the consonant (sounds)
of Facebook – f, s, b and k
and construct the word “to Facebook”
meaning, to add someone
as a friend on Facebook
