What is the root of the word חוק-law?
You might think think it’s ח.ו.ק
and you’re right in some sense
but the original root, probably
was ח.ק.ק
as we see in the word (for) “to codify as law”
We say לחוקק-to legislate, and
when speaking about a constitution
the word is חוקה
And when the word is vocalized
we see the dot, the emphasis
in the middle of the Kuf (חוקּה)
which indicates a missing letter
And here, the letter is Kuf
The root root is ח.ק.ק
And we see the same thing in Arabic
The word for “justice” is حقّ (haqq)
Not “haq” but “haqq”
with an emphasis on Kuf (equivalent)
