The word רוחניות-spirituality comes from the word רוח

רוח-spirit is like mind or soul
And therefore there is another expression
humanities in university

but “spirit sciences”
What is the opposite of spirituality?
Now, in classical Jewish literature
the opposite is גשמיות-materiality from the word “rain”
which soon will come down outside
But today, we usually use the word
חומריות-materialism as the opposite
because “spirit” is something that has no matter in it
and “materialism” is something that has matter in it
and therefore they are more precise opposites
