Hi friends
a synonym for שאלה-question
is קושיה
but, we use it in Modern Hebrew
only on the Seder night
and sometimes when studying Torah
studying Gemara, Talmud
but there are many English speakers
who studied in yeshivas abroad
and they know the word קושיה
and not the word שאלה
so when they come to Israel
they say, “I have a קושיה” instead of “I have a שאלה (question)”
but for them it’s fine
but for Israelis it’s a little funny
so I use it
when I’m sorting (interviewing) new teachers
to see if they are qualified to teach at the ulpan
I play the role
of the guy who studied at a yeshiva in the United States
and comes and says, instead of “I have a שאלה”, “I have a קושיה”
and it makes them laugh
