is very usable
they use it in all kinds of senses
in the everyday, colloquial language
By contrast, in Hebrew
people rarely use it today
There are two categories of people who
use the word לוּ today
the first, people in academia
and the second, immigrants who studied in traditional ulpan
where they don’t teach spoken Hebrew
so what do people say instead of לו today?
There are those who say אילו, for example
אילו-if I were there, I could tell you
but most people will just say אם-if
If I were there, I could tell you about it
