Who doesn’t like the taste of cinnamon?
Well, maybe not everyone
I do like it anyway
and note that the word קינמון
is very similar to the word cinnamon
except the s (sound) at the beginning
They didn’t always pronounce in English
the letter c as s
once it was (only) k
before the Normans from the country we today call France
invaded the island that today we call England
anyway, cinnamon and קינמון
are the same word almost
The letter doubling of n in cinnamon
indicates the strong emphasis that appears in קינּמון (look at the dot)
that was once pronounced it kee-NNah-mohn or something along those lines
Today Israelis are more lazy and simply call it kee-na-mohn
And cinnamon is not the only spice
that has a similar name in English and Hebrew
there is also cumin, and saffron, and others
