the word בירה – capital (city)
does appear in the Bible
but only in the later books
such as Daniel, Chronicles and Esther
and there it has a slightly different meaning
there it refers to a city
that has a wall around it
a fortified city
the capitals of today
like Washington DC and Jerusalem
don’t have a wall around them
but they are called a בירה
on the other hand, בירה – beer
does not appear in the Bible at all
by this name
but it does appear by the name שכר – liquor/malt
which is the root of להשתכר – to get drunk
