Hey dear friends
The word תות in תות שדה-strawberry, there isn’t
too much to say about it
תות is something pretty and tasty
but I’ll focus today on the word שדה-field
We use the word שדה
in all kinds off expressions, including “airfield”
Today, airports aren’t exactly (are no longer)
airfields, they are airPORTS
for example “Ben Gurion Airport”
which is called (abbreviated to) נתב”ג
But we still use the word שדה (colloquially)
in order to describe airports
And שדה is a grammatically masculine
but nevertheless we talk about שדות (feminine ending)
for example שדות תעופה – airfields/airports
But when we describe the airfields/airports
we say “small airfields” (קטנים) or
“large” (גדולים) and not קטנות
or גדולות – the word שדה itself
is grammatically masculine
