You may have seen the word
מושל-governor, and thought to yourselves
“wait, maybe it’s related to the word משל-parable”
as in למשל-for example, and the truth is I asked
myself the same question
and said, I bet they aren’t related
because I know that the letter ש has several
parallel sounds in other (Semitic) languages
and perhaps it’s not the same root
But then I looked into the matter
and discovered that they are indeed related
It’s the exact same root
So what’s the connection between a governor and a parable?
The connection is this: a governor is a person
who represents the public, a representative of
his nation, let’s say, or his state
And a parable is a type of representative
because when I tell a parable, give an example
this thing represents something else
