during the First Temple period in
the Land of Israel people spoke Hebrew mainly
but during the Second Temple period and onwards
they spoke Aramaic in the Land of Israel
because it was the international language
at least the regional one
in the entire Middle East
so there are many many words in Modern Hebrew
that come from Aramaic
especially official words
for example real-estate words like משכנתא – mortgage
and מקרקעין – realty
and תריסר – a dozen
תריסר is a word consisting of two words
תרי and סר
and סר is an abbreviation of עשר – ten
so that what in Hebrew is שנים עשר – twelve
in Aramaic is תריסר
or תרי עשר
depending on the dialect of Aramaic
