Hi friends
in Modern Hebrew, we speak a little differently
than they once did, in biblical times
or in the Mishnaic period
for example, today, no longer say “feast”
we say “party”
when people say “feast” they think of
the feast of Ahasuerus in the Book of Esther
likewise, we say איך for “how” and not כיצד
you can say כיצד which is like איך
but in very specific contexts
maybe in the university people use כיצד
when writing you can write כיצד
but if you want to say
how do I get to the bus stop?
you wouldn’t say, כיצד אני מגיע לתחנת האוטובוס
you’d say, איך אני מגיע לתחנת האוטובוס
another example – say I want to ask someone
if they saw a movie
I don’t ask him, הראית את הסרט הזה
I ask him, ראית את הסרט הזה
I can add the word האם
in other words, האם ראית את הסרט הזה
but even that is a little high
usually we just omit
the word האם
and certainly the prefix ה (the question prefix)
we don’t say הראית, we say just ראית
