is one, and לקוחות is two or more
It’s not לְקוחות, it’s לָקוחות
Why? Because that’s how they used to speak in the time of the Mishna
and this is the form that stuck
And why do we say לקוחות and not לקוחים…
if we’re talking about plural
where everyone is male, or males and females
Because that’s the way it is with many words in Hebrew
The suffix is not necessarily indicative of the gender
of the word, of the noun
לקוח is one, it is in the masculine
לקוחות is the plural, even if it is
males, or males and females
