how to say “leisure time” in Hebrew
having trouble seeing the print?
I think it’s safe to say that everyone (even workaholics, deep down) likes free time to do as they please.
While free time, as in time not booked with other things, is זְמַן חָפְשִׁי (zeh-MAHN khohf-SHEE), free time for leisure or recreation is שְׁעוֹת הַפְּנַאי (sheh-OHT hah-peh-NAH-ee) – literally, the hours of leisure.
The word פנאי, leisure, itself, comes from the root פ.נ.ה (p.n.h) meaning moving something out of the way or turning.

Here’s a game you can play בִּשְׁעוֹת הַפְּנַאי שֶׁלָּכֶם (beesh-OHT hah-peh-NAH-ee sheh-lah-KHEM) – in your leisure time. But this game is not just fun – it’ll help you practice and improve your Hebrew.
